BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0

Bank of Cyprus is organizing the BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 regarding the innovative technologies of the financial sector (Fintech) on 18-20 October 2024, which will take place in person at the IDEA Innovation Center.

GOAL

The goal of BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 is to create innovative solutions around Fintech, up to the stage of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with the prospect of future development into full functional applications.

The goal of BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 is open to developers, startups, professionals, students, as well as anyone interested in taking part and actively contributing to the development of applications that promote innovative young entrepreneurship and the development of fintech services and applications.

In order to better prepare for the marathon, an Open Day information session will be held on Thursday, September 26th, 2024, at 17:00. At the Open Day, the organizers will present their vision to the contestants, offer direction, guidance and practical advice and allow time for questions.

Among the state-of-the-art equipment housed in the Makerspace is the XTOOL D1 PRO 40W laser engraver and the Ultimaker S7 3D printer, both of which allow for precise, high-quality prototyping. In addition, our high-resolution 3D scanner and a mechanical arm capable of machine learning applications further expand the possibilities for innovation. Our interconnected PC, along with a range of Raspberry Pi and programmable chips, create an ideal environment for developing everything from software applications to hardware prototypes.

The purpose of our Makerspace extends beyond simply providing tools. It is a space for entrepreneurship and innovation. It serves as a launching pad for startups, offering entrepreneurs access to resources that accelerate product development and testing. The collaborative nature of the space fosters teamwork and idea-sharing.

Scholarship of 50% for 1st place (in the case of a team victory, each member of the first place – winning team will receive the 50% scholarship), available to full-time new undergraduate students for the Bachelor Degrees in Computer Science and Data science. Students awarded the scholarship must remain in good academic standing throughout their studies, maintaining a GPA of (3.0/4.0) upon the completion of every academic year in order for their scholarship to be renewed and

Students awarded the scholarship must remain in good academic standing throughout their studies, maintaining a GPA of (3.0/4.0) upon the completion of every semester in order for their scholarship to be renewed.

In case of securing two (2) or more scholarships, the scholarship with the highest tuition fee reduction rate applies.

The scholarship does not cover the cost of books and other fees, such as the application fee.

Awarded participants must meet the required admission criteria as determined by the University of Nicosia.

At BοC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 can participate scientists, engineers, programmers, economists, analysts and in general anyone who has an idea on issues related to the application of new technologies and is interested in developing it. The direction of creating groups between different subjects will be strengthened, as well as collaborations with external participants, such as professionals, academics, researchers or students.

We invite any interested individual, group or company to participate in the marathon:

  • by developing original methodologies and applications that address these problems (participants).
